Charlotte Feather is an Academic Tutor at the University of Sunderland's School of Education, where she has been since 2021. She teaches and supervises students across MA Education programs, including MA Education, MA International Education (DL), and MA Special Educational Needs, Disability and Inclusion. As a module leader and thesis supervisor, she focuses on Gender and Diversity, Professional Practice, and Thesis Development. Additionally, she leads the European Social Fund Gender and Diversity short course, supporting workforce skills in the North East LEP area.
Her research interests center on LGBTQ+ inclusivity in education, trainee/early career teacher identity, critical approaches to EDI, and curriculum development. She actively speaks at conferences and consults for schools, universities, and businesses on LGBTQ+ inclusivity and social justice. She is the founder of an organization dedicated to enhancing LGBTQ+ provision in primary schools and chairs the University’s staff Pride Network, collaborating closely with the Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion team.
Charlotte’s work emphasizes amplifying marginalized voices in education, drawing on both her academic background (BA and MA in Education) and lived experience. She advocates for systemic change through policy and practice, particularly in fostering inclusive educational environments.
