Charlotte Rowley is a Senior Lecturer and Course Leader in the Department of Service Sector Management at Sheffield Business School, Sheffield Hallam University. She teaches modules such as Study Skills for University, Managing Festivals, and Live Event across BSc (Hons) Events Management and BA (Hons) Festival and Entertainment Management courses. With over a decade of industry experience in weddings, music festivals (e.g., Tramlines Festival volunteer manager), and charity events, her teaching integrates practical insights. As the Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) lead for her department, her research focuses on diversity and inclusion in the events sector, particularly gender dynamics in leadership roles and student experiences in events education.
Her academic qualifications include an MSc, BSc, and PCert, alongside Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). She has presented research on topics such as women’s leadership in events, student placement challenges, and remote learning impacts at conferences like the International Conference on Education and New Learning Technologies (2021) and the 6th International Conference on Events (2023).
Rowley’s work emphasizes bridging academic theory with industry practice, advocating for equitable access and inclusive event design.
