Ginny Boyd is a Senior Lecturer in Children and Childhood at the Department of Education, Childhood and Inclusion, Sheffield Hallam University. She holds qualifications including a BA (Hons) in Sociology and Social Policy from the University of Warwick, a Postgraduate Diploma in Social Work from the University of Sheffield, an MA in Public Health from Sheffield Hallam University, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning & Teaching in Higher Education.
Her professional career spans social work, NHS roles, and charity work, including experience in child protection, hospital social work, and managing Sheffield Young Carers’ Service. She joined Sheffield Hallam University in 2012 and focuses on teaching and research addressing holistic child welfare, advocacy, early trauma, and multi-agency collaboration.
Research interests include young carers’ experiences, secure care for children/adolescents, and mental health service provision. She contributes to national initiatives through her membership in the Clinical Reference Group for CAMHS (NHS England) and a steering group reviewing secure care practices.
