Catherine Jenkinson is a College Lecturer in History and Julian Schild Junior Research Fellow at Pembroke College, University of Oxford. Her research focuses on early modern political culture, cultural memory, and the history of incarceration and torture, with a particular emphasis on the Tower of London’s cultural identity. She holds a DPhil in History from Lincoln College, Oxford, preceded by a master’s from the University of St Andrews and a Classics degree from Columbia University.
Her teaching spans early modern British and European history, including courses on the British Isles (1500–1700), European and World History (1400–1650), and methodologies in historical disciplines. Research affiliations include the '(Hi)stories of Violence: Myth-Making, Imprisonment and the Cultural Identity of the Tower of London' project.
