Madeline White is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Oxford, affiliated with the Digital Global Plants project. Her work focuses on the intersection of early modern science, empire, and colonial history, using the du Bois Herbarium as a primary archive. She holds a DPhil in the History of Science and Medicine (Lincoln College, Oxford), an MPhil from St Hugh's College, Oxford, and a BA in History and Physics from the University of Southern California.
Her research interests include global and imperial history, environmental history, and the role of scientific collections in shaping historical narratives. Current projects include expanding her doctoral thesis into a digital reconstruction of the du Bois Herbarium and investigating early Royal Society communication networks via letter bearers as a Huntington Library Fellow.
