Catherine Dunham is a Professor of Law at Elon University School of Law, where she served as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and was a charter faculty member. She holds a B.A. and M.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a J.D. from Campbell University School of Law, and an LL.M. from the University of Virginia School of Law.
Her research focuses on:
- Procedural doctrine and gender equity in litigation
- Implicit bias in Title VII class actions
- Evidence law in digital contexts
- Employment discrimination frameworks
Professor Dunham's scholarship has been published in the Akron Law Review, DePaul Journal of Women, Gender and the Law, and University of Maryland Journal of Race, Religion, Gender and Class. She contributes annually to the Survey of Federal Class Action Law.
Awards include:
- 2021 Edward D. Ohlbaum Paper in Advocacy for her work on digital evidence
- ABA Smyth-Gambrell Award for excellence in teaching professionalism
She directs the NITA Southeast Deposition Program, co-leads pro bono initiatives for criminal record expungement, and serves as a legal analyst for NBC and CNN. Current projects include reforming gender discrimination litigation approaches and modernizing legal education.
