Jan L. Jacobowitz serves as a Lecturer at the University of Miami School of Law and is a nationally recognized legal ethics, social media, and technology expert. Founder of Legal Ethics Advisor, she provides consulting, expert testimony, and CLE training to law firms on issues including attorney fees, conflicts of interest, and innovative legal service delivery models. Previously, she directed Miami Law's Professional Responsibility and Ethics Program (PREP), which earned the ABA's prestigious E Smythe Gambrell Award in 2012 under her leadership.

Her pioneering research focuses on Legal Ethics in Digital Environments, with groundbreaking work in Social Media Regulation and Mindful Ethics frameworks. She developed and teaches the first-generation course Social Media and the Law and co-created Mindful Ethics: Professional Responsibility for Lawyers in the Digital Age, exploring intersections of technology, ethics, and mindfulness. Her scholarship addresses critical gaps in Lawyer Advertising Regulation, Cybersecurity compliance, and evolving models for Access to Justice.

As a prominent legal educator and consultant, Jacobowitz has presented at hundreds of CLE seminars nationwide and authored influential reports that shaped ABA Model Rule revisions. Her advisory work extends to national committees including the Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers (APRL), where she served as Immediate Past President and co-chaired the Future of Lawyering Committee. She additionally provides expert testimony in complex ethics litigation and serves as a certified civil court mediator.
Her public service includes membership on the Miami-Dade Commission on Ethics and the Public Trust (2018-2020) and Vice Chairmanship of Broward County's Committee on Oversight of the Inspector General (2011-2018).
