Carol Jenkins is a Lecturer in the Department of Comparative Literature & Thought at Washington University. Previously, she served as a teaching professor at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, where she developed courses on crime stories, German social democracy, children’s literature, and Weimar Republic culture, as well as a language sequence using open educational resources. Her research focuses on sociopolitical developments in 19th- and early 20th-century German literature, including the work of Adalbert Stifter and the interplay between political sensibilities and literary interpretation.
Education: PhD in Comparative Literature from Washington University (dissertation on Stifter’s politics), MA and BA from Carleton College.
