Michael Minden is an Emeritus Fellow at Jesus College and a Reader in Modern German Literature and Culture at the University of Cambridge. He previously served as President of Jesus College and holds MA and PhD degrees from the University of Cambridge (St Catharine’s College). His teaching focuses on German literature, film, and cultural studies.
His research explores European Modernism, German literature, comparative literature, and film, with expertise spanning authors like Adalbert Stifter, Thomas Mann, Rainer Maria Rilke, and Christa Wolf. He has authored seminal works including The German Bildungsroman (1997) and A Cultural History of Modern German Literature (2011).
