Aylin Bademsoy is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Comparative Literature and Thought at Washington University, affiliated with the Program in Germanic Languages and Literatures. Her research focuses on 19th and 20th-century German and Turkish film and literature, examining modernization, racialization, and ideological critiques. She holds a PhD in Comparative Literature and has published on topics including capitalist patriarchies, völkisch racism, and antisemitism in colonial literature.
Her first book project, Modernity, Mobility, Capital, explores the transition from anti-Judaism to antisemitism in German and Turkish cultural discourse through Moishe Postone’s critical framework. She co-edited a volume of translated interviews with filmmaker Christian Petzold. Recent courses include Women's Literature and Feminist Theory, analyzing global feminist texts and films from the Global North and South, addressing themes like gender, race, class, and materialisms.
