He has made significant contributions to understanding Pauline communities through the lens of 'third space' theory and marginality studies.
His publication record shows a strong focus on Pauline studies, with numerous articles exploring Paul's relationship with Judaism, the theology of the cross, and early Christian community formation. He has also produced important work on spatial theory in biblical contexts, examining how physical and conceptual spaces functioned in early Christian identity formation. His scholarship often bridges theological analysis with sociological and anthropological perspectives.
As an educator, Gil Arbiol teaches BA courses in Theology and Religious Sciences, as well as the Human Education in Values module. His specific teaching subjects include Synoptic Gospels, Paul's Letters, and Bible and Culture. His tutorials are held in Room D-208 at the University of Deusto.
