Professor Bill Bowring is a leading scholar in human rights and international law at Birkbeck College, University of London, with a career spanning decades. His academic journey began with a BA in Philosophy from the University of Kent, followed by his practice as a barrister since 1974. At Birkbeck, he teaches modules such as Public International Law and the Use of Force and Taking a Case to the European Court of Human Rights. He has advised numerous PhD students on topics like cultural rights in Russia and Islamic law in UK Shari’a councils, emphasizing practical legal applications.
