Benjamin Paulding is a Lecturer in Music at Brandeis University specializing in ethnomusicology and African percussion. He holds an M.A. in Ethnomusicology from Tufts University and B.A. in World Music from University of Massachusetts.
His research examines Asante Kete royal court drumming traditions from Ghana, with fieldwork conducted across West Africa including Ghana, Togo, Benin, Gambia, and Senegal. As a performer, he leads Kotoko Brass and Gye Nyame Kete ensembles.
Publications analyze Ghanaian musical traditions, cultural preservation, and performance practices. He teaches at multiple institutions including Brandeis University, Inspire Arts & Music, and Zumix.
