Banu Örmeci is a Professor and Canada Research Chair (Tier II) in Wastewater and Public Health Engineering at Carleton University’s Faculty of Engineering and Design. She directs the Global Water Institute and focuses on advancing water and wastewater treatment technologies to protect public health and the environment.

- Bachelor’s degree from Dokuz Eyül University, Turkey
Her research spans:
- Removal of chemical contaminants and pathogens from wastewater
- Environmental monitoring of emerging pollutants
- Development of innovative treatment technologies
- Climate change impacts on water security
She has published over 150 peer-reviewed articles and holds 9 international patents. Her work addresses both global and Canadian-specific water challenges.
