Dr Ashley Chantler is Senior Lecturer in English Literature and Programme Leader of MA Creative Writing: Writing and Publishing Fiction at the University of Chester. He actively contributes to teaching contemporary and twentieth-century literature, alongside practical expertise in writing, editing, and publishing poetry and short fiction.

- Co-editor of Flash magazine and press
- Founding director of the University's creative-writing hub Pandora's Box
His research focuses on twentieth-century and contemporary literature, specializing in Ford Madox Ford, modernism, Harold Pinter, textual editing, and flash fiction. He has authored and co-edited numerous academic works, including Heart of Darkness (2008) and the Character Studies series.
Dr Chantler's academic contributions extend to editing flash-fiction collections, judging literary competitions, and serving on editorial boards. His creative publications include poetry collections and novellas-in-flash, with frequent appearances in print and online outlets.
