Arndt Sorge is an esteemed Professor and academic with cross-national career spanning institutions in Germany, the Netherlands, and beyond. He served as a Professor at the Universities of Maastricht, Humboldt Berlin, Tilburg, and Groningen, and later as Director of the Internationalisation and Organisation unit at the WZB Berlin Social Science Centre. His research focuses on societal effects on organizational forms, globalization-localization dialectics, and institutional theory. He holds the EGOS Honorary Member title (2010) and co-authored the 1980 landmark article on societal effects, cited 22nd most in Organization Studies.
Education: PhD in Sociology (1975, University of Münster), with early research at WZB Berlin on industrial democracy and microelectronics. Multilingual scholar (German, English, French, Dutch).
Research Interests: Cross-national comparisons of organizational structures, strategic fit, institutional complexity, and the interplay between global and local dynamics in business systems. His work bridges sociological and managerial perspectives, emphasizing pragmatic integration of conflicting logics.

Engagement: Co-founder of EGOS, organized the 1989 Colloquium in Berlin, and revitalized Organization Studies as Editor-in-Chief (1996–2000). Played pivotal roles in fostering international collaboration and mentoring early-career scholars through EGOS PhD workshops.
