Renate E. Meyer

Renate E. Meyer is Professor and Chair of the Department of Management at WU Vienna (Vienna University of Economics and Business), where she has been affiliated for over three decades. She also holds a longstanding affiliation with the Department of Organization at Copenhagen Business School. Renate has made exceptional contributions to EGOS (European Group for Organizational Studies), serving as Chair (2011–2014), Treasurer, and Board Member (2008–2017). She co-organized the 2007 EGOS Colloquium in Vienna and has been instrumental in fostering partnerships between EGOS and the Academy of Management's OMT division.

Her research encompasses institutional theory, organization theory, management studies, urban governance, and multimodality. She pioneered studies on the translation of management ideas across contexts and advanced European institutionalism through phenomenological approaches. Her work combines theoretical depth with methodological innovation in examining organizational phenomena.

Renate received the prestigious EGOS Honorary Member award in 2024, recognizing her unparalleled service to the academic community, intellectual leadership, and mentorship.

She leads extensive international research collaborations with team members across Berlin, Hamburg, Liverpool, and Sydney. Her relational approach to scholarship emphasizes collective idea development and sustained mentorship of early-career researchers.
