Renate E Meyer

Renate E Meyer is the Visiting Professor of Management at the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford. She concurrently holds a full-time role as Professor and Chair of Organisation Studies at WU Vienna University of Economics and Business and a part-time Professor in Institutional Theory at Copenhagen Business School. She is also the Co-Director of the Research Institute for Urban Management & Governance at WU Vienna.

Her research focuses on institutionalization of new management ideas, multimodal institutional analysis, novel organizational forms, and governance structures in urban contexts. Empirical studies include shareholder value, corporate social responsibility, city strategies, urban governance, refugee crises, and climate change discourse.

Renate has held leadership roles such as Editor-in-Chief of Organisation Studies (until 2023), Division Chair of the Academy of Management’s Organisation and Management Theory Division, and roles on the European Group for Organisational Studies Board. She serves on various boards, including the Austrian Science Fund’s Supervisory Board and the Vienna Hospital Association’s Governance Board.

Her professional engagements include executive teaching for the Austrian Federal Government and the City of Vienna, emphasizing practical application of institutional and urban governance theories.
