Jörg Sydow is a Professor at Freie Universität Berlin, holding the Chair for Inter-firm Cooperation in the Department of Management. He was awarded the EGOS Honorary Membership in 2021 for his exceptional contributions to organizational studies research. His work bridges multiple disciplines including political science, sociology, geography, and management.
Professor Sydow's research focuses on inter-organizational relations and temporary organizations, employing qualitative, time-sensitive approaches grounded in structuration theory and path dependence. His scholarship examines how networks and collaborative structures function across different organizational contexts.
He has received significant recognition for his publications, including the Journal of Management Scholarly Impact Award and the Academy of Management Review Decade Award for groundbreaking theoretical contributions. His textbook Managing Inter-Organizational Relations integrates theoretical frameworks with practical case studies.
