Anne-Marie Lubenau is a Lecturer in Urban Planning and Design at Harvard University's Graduate School of Design (GSD), where she teaches studios and seminars focused on urban design principles and community engagement. She holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Carnegie Mellon University and is a Loeb Fellow (2012). Her work bridges academia, municipal governance, and nonprofit sectors, emphasizing equitable, resilient urban environments.
Previously, she served as Director of the Rudy Bruner Award for Urban Excellence at the Bruner Foundation (over 10 years), expanding its national impact through collaborations with institutions like Harvard and Metropolis magazine. As CEO of the Community Design Center of Pittsburgh, she advanced it into a national model for community-oriented design practices.
Her research interests center on the intersection of design, equity, and urban resilience. She actively contributes to national/international forums, curates educational series (e.g., Northeastern University's 2021 speaker series), and publishes in journals like Metropolis and Building Design + Construction.
