Anna Wolstenholme is a Professor of Flute at the University of Bergen and currently serves as Principal Flute of the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra (Norway). Previously, she held the same position with OSESP in São Paulo, Brazil. She is an active freelance musician, performing with major UK orchestras such as the London Symphony Orchestra (LSO), Philharmonia, and the Academy of St Martin in the Fields. Her career spans international tours, recordings for prestigious labels like BBC, Chandos, and Hyperion, and critical acclaim for her work on Gorecki and Turnage compositions.
Her academic contributions include guest professorships, masterclasses, and examinations at institutions like the Royal Academy of Music (RAM), Royal College of Music (RCM), and Guildhall School of Music and Drama (GSMD). She has reviewed music publications for Rhinegold Press and is deeply engaged in outreach initiatives, co-founding the Beddgelert Music Festival in 2013. Collaborations with 'Musical Orbit' have expanded her reach through online webinars targeting university music departments.
Anna’s education includes postgraduate studies at the Royal College of Music under Paul Edmund-Davies and Jaime Martin, supported by scholarships such as the Countess of Munster and EMI. Her research interests focus on flute performance pedagogy, contemporary repertoire interpretation, and music accessibility through outreach programs.
Her awards reflect her academic and artistic achievements, including scholarships from Emmanuel College, Cambridge, and recognition for her recordings. She remains a prominent figure in both classical performance and music education.
