Dr. Ann Jolly is an Associate Professor in the School of Epidemiology and Public Health at the University of Ottawa, part of the Faculty of Medicine. She holds office in PM 301F and holds weekly office hours on Wednesdays from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Her work focuses on investigating pathogen transmission through social and sexual networks among high-risk populations.
Dr. Jolly earned her PhD in Community Health Sciences from the University of Manitoba (1998), an M.Sc. in the same field (1993), a BA (Double Honors in Anthropology and English, 1985), and a Certificate in Acute Care Administration (1987).
Her research has examined transmission dynamics of infections among injection drug users, sex workers, and individuals with sexually transmitted infections, with projects in Ottawa, Vancouver, and China. She developed HIV prevention interventions and conducted strain-specific analyses of gonorrhoea transmission in Chinese cities. Her work directly informs public health outbreak responses.
Jolly has taught infectious disease epidemiology since 1999, currently instructing EPI5212, EPI7913C, and POP8920. She served as a Senior Epidemiologist and Research Scientist with the Public Health Agency of Canada for 16 years, contributing to outbreak investigations and surveillance systems.
