Pamina Gorbach

Pamina Gorbach is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Epidemiology at the School of Public Health, University of California, Los Angeles. A behavioral epidemiologist, she focuses on risk behaviors related to sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and HIV, particularly partnership-level dynamics and sexual health contexts.

• Specializes in survey research and qualitative methodologies for studying sexual behavior
• Conducts international research on HIV/STI transmission in Southeast Asia, including Cambodia, Vietnam, and other regions
• Investigates trends in sexual behavior among diverse populations, such as young heterosexuals and men who have sex with men (MSM)

Her work bridges clinical epidemiology, behavioral science, and global health, with ongoing studies in Southern California and Southeast Asia.

She has provided eight years of technical assistance to Cambodia’s National Center for HIV, AIDS, Dermatology, and STDs, and conducted research in Mali, Ghana, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, and Peru.
