He holds roles as Development Core Director at the Center for Studies in Demography and Ecology (CSDE). His research focuses on human infectious disease ecology, HIV/AIDS, sexual behavior, and mathematical modeling. Notable affiliations include the Center for AIDS and STD/CFAR and the eScience Institute.
Education: PhD (Anthropology, Penn State, 2001), MA (Anthropology, Penn State, 1996), AB (Anthropology, Harvard, 1994).
Research Interests: Sexual networks, HIV epidemiology, agent-based modeling, demography, and prevention strategies for sexually transmitted infections (STIs). His work integrates computational methods to address health disparities among sexual minorities and populations at high risk for HIV/STIs.
Key Contributions: Co-developer of the statnet and EpiModel R packages for network analysis and epidemic modeling. Active in global HIV prevention research and policy, particularly among men who have sex with men (MSM).
Grants & Teams: Leads the Coalition for Applied Modeling Project (CAMP) and EvoNetHIV initiatives. Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams on modeling HIV evolution and biomedical interventions like PrEP.
Labs/Teams: statnet, EpiModel, and CAMP research groups focus on advancing computational epidemiology and public health applications.
