Dr. Andrew Robinette is an Associate Professor and Associate Director of Choral Activities in the School of Performing Arts at South Dakota State University (SDSU). He teaches conducting, choral methods, applied voice, and voice methods, and conducts the SDSU Statesmen. With over two decades of teaching experience, he has held positions at Temple University, Bloomsburg University, and Philadelphia University. His expertise spans choral performance, music education, and historical performance practice.
Education: D.M.A. from the University of South Carolina, M.M. from Temple University, and B.M. from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
Research interests include choral literature, performance practices of 19th- and 20th-century works, and music education pedagogy. He regularly presents at national and international conferences, including the National Collegiate Choral Organization and the Modernist Society’s The Space Between. Recent engagements include guest conducting at Syracuse University and the Alaska Region Five Honor Festival.
Professional roles: President of the South Dakota Chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, Church and Community Choir Repertoire Chair for the South Dakota ACDA, and choir director at Hope Lutheran Church, Sioux Falls.
