Vivian Hamilton is a Lecturer of Music and Director of Belle Voci (Women’s Chorale) at Furman University, serving as a collaborative pianist in the Department of Music. She also holds the role of Minister of Music and Worship at First Baptist Church in Greenville, South Carolina. Dr. Hamilton’s professional activities span choral conducting, orchestral keyboard performance, and music ministry across institutions including the University of South Carolina, Clemson University, and Simmons College.
Education: D.M.A. in Choral Conducting (University of South Carolina), M.M. in Piano Performance (New England Conservatory of Music), and B.M. in Music Education (Furman University). Key mentors include Larry Wyatt, Jacob Maxin, Thomas Stumpf, and Robert Shaw.
Research interests focus on choral pedagogy, sacred music, and interdisciplinary music collaboration. Awards include recognition from the Robert Shaw Festival and leadership roles in the American Choral Directors Association. She has conducted choirs in major conventions and led the Greater Anderson Musical Arts Consortium Chorale for twelve years.
