Andrele Brutus St. Val is an Associate Professor of Legal Writing at the School of Law, University of Pittsburgh. She joined the faculty in July 2020 and is actively engaged in teaching, scholarship, and institutional service. Her roles include Assistant Editor in Chief of the Journal of the Legal Writing Institute, and membership in the Legal Writing Institute (LWI) and Association of Legal Writing Directors (ALWD). She co-created the course "Thriving in the Law: Tools for Academic, Professional, and Personal Well-being," and is part of the Resilience and Engagement Project, emphasizing holistic student development.
- Education: JD from Florida A&M University College of Law; LL.M. in Labor and Employment Law from Wayne State University Law School.
Her research focuses on legal pedagogy, online teaching strategies, student well-being, and labor/employment law. She has presented nationally on topics like professional identity formation and online education. Prior academic roles include Visiting Assistant Professor at Mitchell Hamline School of Law and staff attorney at the University of Michigan Unemployment Insurance Clinic. She also held judicial roles in Florida and Michigan courts.
Professional licenses: Admitted to practice law in Florida and Michigan. Fluent in Haitian-Creole and improving French.
