Candace Centeno is a Professor of Law at Villanova University School of Law, teaching Legal Analysis and Writing I & II and an upper-level medical malpractice course. She previously served as Associate Dean of Academic Affairs (Spring 2019-Spring 2022) and Director of the Duane Morris, LLP Legal Writing Program (2018-2022), following a thirteen-year career as a defense litigator at White & Williams in Philadelphia specializing in healthcare professional representation.
Her educational background includes:
- Bachelor of Arts in History from Muhlenberg College, summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa
- Juris Doctor from Boston College Law School, cum laude
Centeno's research centers on legal writing pedagogy and curriculum innovation, with emphasis on integrating practical skills training into law school instruction. Her work addresses contemporary challenges in legal education, including pandemic-era virtual learning adaptations and methods for enhancing student engagement through formative assessments in traditional coursework.

Centeno maintains active professional service as Treasurer of the Legal Writing Institute Executive Board (2014-2018), conference coordinator for national LWI events, and committee member for AALS, ALWD, and LWI. She continues clinical practice as a volunteer attorney at the Support Center for Child Advocates and previously served as a hearing officer for the Pennsylvania Disciplinary Board (2011-2017) and arbitrator for the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas (2003-2007).
