Kathleen Elliott Vinson is a Professor of Legal Writing and Director of Legal Writing, Research, and Written Advocacy at Suffolk University Law School, where she has led initiatives in legal pedagogy since joining the faculty. She is recognized nationally for her scholarship and leadership in legal writing, with Suffolk’s LPS program consistently ranked in the Top 10 by U.S. News and World Report since 2013.

Vinson’s research bridges legal writing pedagogy, professional identity formation, and mindful lawyering, with a focus on student well-being and innovative teaching strategies. Her work examines how mindfulness, problem-solving frameworks, and technology integration can enhance legal education and practice.
Recent publications highlight post-pandemic challenges in legal education, leadership development, and well-being strategies for law students. These works span themes like professional identity, mindful communication, and bar exam preparation.
Scientific awards include the Thomas F. Blackwell Memorial Award (2025), Catherine T. Judge Teaching and Service Award (2023), and the Mary S. Lawrence Award (2018) for curriculum innovation. She has also secured multiple Teaching and Learning Innovation Grants and co-created the iWrite Legal app, recognized as a Top 15 App for Lawyers (2013).
Her advisory roles extend to Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court Advisory Committee for Professionalism (2015–2023) and leadership positions in AALS, ALWD, and LWI. She co-founded the New England Legal Writing Regional Consortium and hosts the Law FaculTEAS podcast on legal education trends.
