Dr. Andreas Zametzer is a Researcher in the School of Earth and Planetary Sciences at Curtin University, affiliated with the Faculty of Science and Engineering. He holds positions in the Office of the Provost and is based at the Curtin Perth campus. His research focuses on Archean Earth systems, Isotope Geochemistry, and Ore Deposits, with notable contributions to understanding impact cratering and continental crust evolution.
He earned a BSc, MSc, and PhD in Geology. His work integrates field geology with isotopic analysis, particularly in the Pilbara Craton and Barberton Greenstone Belt. Recent studies include Pb isotope variability in crust-mantle interactions and the discovery of a Paleoarchaean impact crater.
Zametzer's research interests span sedimentology, Precambrian geology, and hydrothermal systems. He was awarded the Geological Society of South Africa Jubilee Medal 2023 and a Research Team Award (2022) for contributions to the Timescales of Mineral Systems Group.
His publications highlight advancements in Pb isotope interpretation strategies, continental-scale sediment patterns, and the interplay between tectonics and sedimentation. Collaborations focus on unlocking cryptic geological histories via entombed geochronometers and matrix minerals in dykes.
