Dr. Paul A. Mueller is a Professor of Geological Sciences at the University of Florida, affiliated with the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. His research focuses on the chemical and geodynamic evolution of the crust-mantle system, particularly the Precambrian tectonics, geochronology, and isotope geochemistry. He holds a Ph.D. from Rice University (1971).
Key research interests include U-Pb, Rb-Sr, Lu-Hf, and Sm-Nd isotopic systematics in igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary rocks. His work explores crustal evolution through detrital zircon studies, continental accretion processes, and the tectonic history of Precambrian terranes. Recent studies address the Shyok suture zone, Appalachian orogeny, and Archean craton architecture.
Selected publications (2019-2025) highlight contributions to understanding continental collision dynamics, crustal genesis in the Wyoming Province, and the geochronology of Paleoproterozoic metamorphism. Mueller’s research integrates field observations with advanced analytical techniques to reconstruct early Earth processes.
