David Mole

David Mole is a Research Fellow at the School of Earth and Oceans, University of Western Australia, and currently works as a geochronologist at Geoscience Australia in Canberra. His career spans postdoctoral research at Curtin University, CSIRO, and Laurentian University (Canada), focusing on Precambrian continental crust evolution.

• Education: M.Sci in Geology (University College London, 2007); PhD in Isotope Geochemistry and Geochronology (University of Western Australia, 2012)

Research interests center on igneous petrology, geochemistry, and geochronology, with two primary focuses: (1) using large geochemical datasets to understand geodynamic evolution at regional-to-global scales, and (2) applying geochronological and geochemical methods to mineral system analysis. His approach combines established and innovative techniques with geophysical datasets to advance crustal evolution and mineral exploration understanding.

Recent publications highlight his work in subduction zone dynamics (2025), crustal differentiation (2025), and Pb isotope mapping for mineral resource assessment (2024). Research themes include craton evolution (2023), zircon geochronology (2022), and Precambrian tectonic modeling. His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals through mineral resource characterizations and Earth system science.
