Allison Roux

Allison Roux serves as Assistant Professor of Musical Theatre Dance and program coordinator for the BA in Dance and Minor in Dance at Converse University's Department of Theatre & Dance, leveraging her MFA in Dance (Choreography) from UNC Greensboro and BFA in Acting from SUNY Fredonia to bridge academic and professional dance practice.

Her educational qualifications include:

• MFA in Dance (Choreography) - University of North Carolina Greensboro
• BFA in Acting with a minor in Dance - The State University of New York at Fredonia

Roux's research operates at the nexus of creative practice, pedagogical investigation, and art for social change, with choreographic works like Released (2022) examining formerly incarcerated women in North Carolina, Wrongful (2020) confronting wrongful incarceration, and Watch Your Step (2023) highlighting coral reef biodiversity loss. As a certified yoga teacher and ScreenDance producer, her films have screened internationally at festivals including Wicklow ScreenDance Laboratory (Ireland) and the International ScreenDance Festival, while her pedagogical research was presented at the 2021 NDEO conference.

In her coordinator role, Roux mentors dance students through curriculum development and draws on her extensive professional network, having performed, choreographed, and taught for organizations such as Flatlands Dance Theatre, Glow Lyric Theatre, and Children’s Theatre of Charlotte across the United States.

Her collaborative ecosystem spans regional institutions including Blue Gate Musicals, The National Theatre for Children, Missoula Children’s Theatre, and Tweetsie Railroad, fostering artistic partnerships that integrate performance, education, and social advocacy.
