Dr. Alison Collins serves as a Lecturer in Organisational Health and Well Being at Lancaster University's Faculty of Health and Medicine, Department of Health Research. She holds dual roles as an Honorary Researcher and Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA), with responsibilities including module convenorship for DHR406 Healthy Organizations and DHR523 Systematic approaches to literature reviews. She co-leads the faculty Teaching and Learning Forum and serves as Blended Learning PhD programme moderator, having previously directed the PhD in Organisational Health and Wellbeing (2011-2014).
Her research program centers on occupational psychology with emphasis on:
- Psychological contracts between employees and organizations
- Work-life balance mechanisms
- Presenteeism and homeworking dynamics
- Health and safety frameworks
- Social relationship networks within workplaces
Current investigations include ESRC-funded analysis of Army Reservists' experiences and British Academy research on intergenerational skills in woodland volunteering. Her 2018 publication in Work and Stress established longitudinal patterns of sickness presenteeism among UK employees, demonstrating methodological rigor in organizational health research.
