Alex C. Evans

Dr. Alex C. Evans is an LSE Fellow at the LSE Law School since September 2023. Previously, she was a Senior Lecturer at UNSW Sydney, teaching Tax Law in the Master of Tax program and serving as an editor of the eJournal of Tax Research. Her research focuses on tax law design, comparative analysis, environmental economics, and legal pedagogy. She holds an LLB (2004), LLM (2010), and PhD (2016) from the University of Sydney, with her doctoral work proposing a novel tax framework for Australian private business trusts. She completed a doctoral exchange at Harvard Law School (2013), where she later adapted the Socratic method for online education, published in Legal Education Review (2022). She contributed to tax reform projects at the Australian National University (2020–2022) and worked as a tax lawyer at Ashurst (2005–2009). She worked part-time (2018–2023) to care for her children, now at full-time capacity at LSE.

Research & Projects: Specializes in tax law design for private business entities, comparative tax systems, and environmental taxation. Co-led ANU projects on Australian corporate tax reform and trust taxation. Published in Sydney Law Review, Australian Tax Forum, and Legal Education Review.

Grants & Collaborations: Received competitive PhD scholarships and contributed to interdisciplinary tax reform initiatives at ANU and UNSW.

Labs/Teams: Editorial role at eJournal of Tax Research, promoting Southern Hemisphere tax scholarship.
