Gurkov's publication record demonstrates a clear evolution from traditional legal scholarship toward innovative intersections of law and technology. Early in his career, he focused on Russian case law and international arbitration, particularly examining competition law issues within the Russian legal system. Over time, his research increasingly incorporated blockchain technology and decentralized systems, with a significant emphasis on cooperatives since 2018. His recent work shows a sophisticated integration of cooperative law, blockchain governance, and regulatory frameworks, particularly examining how EU regulations interact with blockchain-based cooperative structures. The consistent thread throughout his work is a deep engagement with how legal frameworks can adapt to technological innovation while preserving core legal principles.
