Adrian Ruiz, D.M.A., serves as Director of Jazz Studies at St. Mary's University, where he conducts the Jazz Orchestra, coordinates the Fiesta Jazz Festival, and teaches trumpet and composition. His research focuses on jazz pedagogy, performance practices, and the improvisational style of Claudio Roditi. A Grammy-nominated artist, Ruiz has performed internationally at major jazz festivals and collaborated with renowned musicians.
Ruiz's scholarly output includes seven transcription books analyzing Roditi's work and a critically acclaimed album of original compositions. His publications explore technical execution, cultural contexts, and pedagogical applications of jazz performance.
