Dr. Laura Reimer serves as the Director of Program Development for the Faculty of Law and the Marcel A. Desautels Centre for Private Enterprise and the Law at the University of Manitoba, while also chairing the Faculty of Law Business Advisory Committee. She previously served as the first Practicum and Professional Development Coordinator for the Master of Human Rights program and was an Assistant Professor of Public Administration and Public Policy at the University of Winnipeg, where she received the prestigious Clifford J. Robson Memorial Award for Teaching Excellence. Dr. Reimer's research interests explore the intersection of theory and practice, with expertise merging peacebuilding practices with policy, governance, and leadership. She has particular focus on education policy and Indigenous education, informed by her experience as a former elected school trustee. Her career path evolved from political science to public administration, education, and peace and conflict studies, reflecting a growing understanding of the interconnectedness of justice, governance, education and human rights-informed decision-making. Her publications reveal consistent themes across policy leadership, Indigenous education, reconciliation processes, and conflict transformation. The research demonstrates a progression from foundational work on school board governance to increasingly sophisticated analyses of reconciliation frameworks and narrative approaches to peacebuilding. Her most recent work emphasizes intersectional approaches to justice that incorporate Indigeneity, gender, and security perspectives. Clifford J. Her community involvement includes serving as Commissioner of the Manitoba Law Reform Commission (2022-2025), membership on the University of Manitoba Board of Governors (2019-2022), and governance roles with the Mediation Services Board of Directors. As a trained Mediator, she brings practical conflict resolution expertise to her academic work, emphasizing the importance of addressing identity conflicts through understanding common ground.
