Jennifer Copp is an Associate Professor at the College of Criminology & Criminal Justice, Florida State University. She holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from Bowling Green State University and additional degrees in Gender Studies and International Relations. Her research focuses on social influences on crime, pretrial justice, social inequality, and intimate partner violence. She has led or co-led numerous grants totaling over $2 million, addressing issues like parental incarceration impacts, pretrial detention reform, and adolescent substance use. Key projects include co-editing the Handbook on Pretrial Justice and researching the effects of parental incarceration on child well-being.
Her work emphasizes translational criminology, bridging research and policy. Notable achievements include earning the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences' Top Honors for her book and serving as a journal editor. She advises projects such as the Walton County Jail Reentry Program and has published widely on desistance, juvenile justice, and relationship dynamics.
