Dr. Julia M. Mack is an Assistant Professor and Chairperson of the Criminal Justice Program at Gannon University, serving as Associate Dean of Curriculum and Student Affairs within the College of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences (CHESS). A lifelong Erie resident, she returned to Gannon in 2012 after earning her PhD in Sociology/Criminology from Bowling Green State University. Her research focuses on juvenile delinquency, psychosocial maturity, and family dynamics, informed by her academic journey and commitment to student development.
Education:

Research & Teaching: Dr. Mack teaches courses on criminological theory, juvenile justice systems, correctional processes, and criminal justice statistics. Her work emphasizes applied research in adolescent development, desistance theories, and policy implications. She actively advises students and designs curricula to support future professionals in criminal justice fields.
Engagement: Beyond academia, Dr. Mack balances motherhood and community involvement, often integrating her family life into campus interactions. She maintains ties with alumni through summer softball leagues.
