Tim Gibbs serves as the Double Bass Tutor at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama's Strings, Harp & Guitar department. He holds historical significance as the fourth Principal Double Bass in the Philharmonia Orchestra's history, appointed in 2015 under Esa-Pekka Salonen. Previously, he was Co-Principal Bass with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and has guest-performed internationally with ensembles like the Orchestra Ensemble Kanazawa in Japan. Education: The first double bassist admitted to the Yehudi Menuhin School. Performance Highlights: Debut recital at Wigmore Hall (age 20), concerto performances across three continents, BBC Proms appearances, and collaborations with artists such as guitarist John Williams and trumpeter Alison Balsom. Chamber Music: Regular participation in SouthBank Centre's International Chamber Music Series and recordings with the Doric and Sacconi quartets.
