Dr. Yue Sun is an Assistant Professor of Music-Upper Strings at the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF), joining the College of Liberal Arts in 2023. A renowned Chinese violinist, she is celebrated for her technical innovation and passionate performances, praised by media outlets such as SinoVision and Nanchang Daily. Her career spans solo recitals at global venues like Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and Shanghai Concert Hall, alongside orchestral roles with the Latin GRAMMY® Award Orchestra of the Americas and the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival Orchestra.

- Doctorate of Music Arts, Stony Brook University (studied under Hagai Shaham, Philip Setzer, Jennifer Frautschi, Arnaud Sussmann)
- Master of Music, The Juilliard School (full scholarship, studied with Ida Kavafian)

Research & Creativity: Sun focuses on violin performance, chamber music, and cross-cultural musical expression. She released the album Passion (2017), featuring 8 premieres of Chinese solo violin works, distributed globally via Shanghai Music House and Skillman Music. Her work bridges traditional Chinese compositions with classical techniques, reflecting her dual expertise in Eastern and Western musical traditions.
Teaching & Outreach: As an educator, Sun emphasizes technical mastery and artistic interpretation. Her pedagogical approach is informed by her interdisciplinary background in psychology, which she integrates into performance training to enhance emotional expression and audience engagement.
