Elizabeth Rowin serves as Lecturer in Music and Applied Instructor of Violin at Oakland University's School of Music, Theatre and Dance, where she also coordinates the chamber music program. She maintains an active performance career as concertmaster for the Fisher Theater and Motor City Symphony Orchestra, and as a violinist with the Michigan Opera Theatre Orchestra.
Her educational background includes Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Mannes College of Music and a Specialist Degree in Violin Performance from the University of Michigan, where she received a fellowship. Her principal teachers were Michael Avsharian, Ani Kavafian, Shirley Givens, Paul Kantor, and Felix Galimir.
Ms. Rowin's artistic focus centers on Violin Performance and Chamber Music, with notable premieres of Karl Boelter's Concerto for Violin (recorded with the Czech National Symphony) and Nicolas Bacri's Une Priere. She regularly performs at Detroit cultural institutions including the Detroit Institute of Arts, Cranbrook Art Museum, and Henry Ford Estate, while maintaining educational outreach through master classes at University of Michigan, Eastern Michigan University, and Flint Institute of Music.
