Igor Fedotov is a Professor of Music at Western Michigan University's Irving S. Gilmore School of Music, specializing in viola performance and chamber music. He holds a Master of Music (M.M.) from Azerbaijan State Conservatory and a Bachelor of Music (B.M.) from Azerbaijan State Musical College. His research focuses on 20th-century Russian viola music, supported by a Fulbright Scholar Award in 2006, resulting in a NAXOS recording released in 2010.
Fedotov has performed internationally, including solo recitals at the International Viola Congresses (1996–2000), the 2005 International Bass Convention, and collaborations with renowned artists like Anner Bylsma, Ivan Monighetti, and the Amadeus Quartet. He has participated in festivals such as the Académies Internationales du Grand Nancy, Musiques en Mer, and Musikdagar, and served on the Board of Directors for the Stulberg International String Competition from 2000 to 2008.
His teaching roles include coordinating string chamber music and mentoring students at Western Michigan University. His discography features recordings of Soviet Russian viola music, highlighting underrepresented composers like Vladimir Kryukov and Sergei Vasilenko.
