Sheila Browne serves as Associate Professor of Viola at Lynn University's Conservatory of Music and Adjunct Faculty in Instrumental Studies at Temple University's Boyer College of Music and Dance. An internationally acclaimed violist, she has performed across six continents in venues including Carnegie Hall, Concertgebouw, and Beijing's National Center for Performing Arts, with recordings on Sony, Nonesuch, and Bridge labels.
Her educational background includes:
- Bachelor's degree from The Juilliard School as teaching assistant to Karen Tuttle
- Aufbau studies in Germany with Kim Kashkashian under DAAD scholarship
- Master of Music from Rice University with Karen Ritscher and Paul Katz
Browne specializes in viola performance and chamber music, premiering concerti written for her while maintaining a holistic pedagogical approach. She directs the international January Karen Tuttle Viola Workshop and has conducted master classes at Juilliard, Eastman, and New England Conservatory. Her artistic philosophy emphasizes music's power to unite cultures globally.

As an educator, Browne has mentored students now employed in major orchestras worldwide, with alumni attending top viola programs across the U.S., Europe, and Asia. Her teaching legacy extends through the Karen Tuttle Viola Workshop and faculty roles at institutions including Tianjin Juilliard School and National Youth Orchestra of Iraq.
She is founding member of the Fire Pink Trio and former violist of the prize-winning Arianna String Quartet, with collaborations spanning the Guarneri, Juilliard, and Shanghai quartets. Current artistic leadership includes interim directorship of Techne Music and teaching at Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival.
