Jessica Lynn Thompson is a Teaching Professor in the Department of Music at Columbia University, where she is part of the Daedalus Quartet in residence. She also teaches at Princeton University. A renowned violist, she is a member of the Grammy-nominated Daedalus Quartet, Grand Prize winner of the 2001 Banff International String Quartet Competition, and recipient of the 2007 Martin Segal Award and Guarneri Quartet Award.
Her performances span prestigious venues and festivals including Marlboro, Aspen, and Taos, with solo engagements with the Minnesota Orchestra. Prior to joining Daedalus, she served as Associate Professor of Viola at Indiana University South Bend. Educated at the Curtis Institute of Music under Karen Tuttle, her expertise focuses on chamber music and classical performance.
Award-winning residencies at Columbia and the University of Pennsylvania highlight her contributions to music education and performance. Thompson’s work emphasizes collaborative chamber music and the intersection of academic teaching with professional ensemble performance.
