Xun Ge is a Professor at the University of North Texas, holding the title of Faculty Professor Chair. Their research focuses on cognition, motivation, and epistemic beliefs, with a strong emphasis on designing effective learning environments, game-based learning, and problem-based pedagogies. Ge holds a Ph.D. in Instructional Systems from Penn State University (2001), an M.Ed. in Bilingual Education from Northern Arizona University (1995), and prior degrees from institutions in Singapore and China. Research interests include scaffolding complex problem-solving, self-regulation strategies, and the integration of Extended Reality (XR) technologies such as VR and AR into education. They have developed innovative frameworks for maker learning, inquiry-based instruction, and assessment methodologies for learning processes. Ge’s work frequently addresses challenges in STEM education and the role of technology in fostering inclusive, equitable learning environments. Recent publications highlight advancements in game-based learning environments, digital tools for problem-solving support, and responses to educational disruptions like the pandemic.
