Prof. Seraina C. Anagnostopoulou is a Professor of Financial Accounting and Head of the Department of Banking and Financial Management at the University of Piraeus, Greece. She holds a Ph.D. from Cass Business School (City University, London, 2007), an M.Sc. from the ICMA Centre (University of Reading, 2002), and a B.A. in Economics from Athens University of Economics and Business (2001). Her academic career includes roles at ESCP Business School, Henley Business School, and the Open University of Cyprus. Her research focuses on accounting quality, earnings management, IFRS adoption effects, corporate sustainability, and R&D valuation. Notable contributions include studies on M&A accounting comparability, classification shifting in financial reporting, and the impact of human resource practices on investment efficiency. She directs the Green Finance and Banking (Green FinB) Lab at the University of Piraeus and serves on editorial boards of top journals like the International Journal of Accounting and British Accounting Review . Prof. Anagnostopoulou is a CFA Charterholder and Fellow of the Advanced HE (UK). Her awards include recognition for her editorial work and pedagogical contributions. She actively reviews for leading journals and contributes to policy debates through her role in the European Accounting Association’s External Relations Committee (2024–2027).
