Anne Murray is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Ecology & Evolutionary Biology at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Her research focuses on chemical ecology and self-sanitizing materials, exploring how chemical interactions mediate ecological relationships such as host-plant interactions involving insects and fungi. She holds a PhD and BS in Environmental Science from UC Berkeley (2017 and 2008 respectively). Her research interests include understanding the role of chemicals in ecological processes, particularly floral odorants, pollinator behavior, and antimicrobial material development. Notable projects include studies on odorant characterization in plants like Alpinia zerumbet and Tricholoma magnivelare, and investigations into pollen nutritional impacts on plant reproductive success. Publications span chemical ecology, materials science, and mycology, with recent work emphasizing volatile profiles influencing pollinator behavior and antimicrobial alloy properties. Her research integrates ecological, biochemical, and engineering approaches to address environmental and biomedical challenges. Affiliated with the Ecology & Evolutionary Biology Department at UTK’s College of Arts and Sciences, her lab is located in 569 Dabney Hall, Knoxville, TN.
