Beth Erhart is a Professor in the Department of Anthropology and serves as Associate Dean for Academic Programs in the College of Liberal Arts at Texas State University. She holds a PhD from the University of Texas at Austin (1996) and specializes in primate behavior, ecology, and conservation. Her research examines lemur behavioral development, nutritional ecology, demography, and anthropogenic impacts in Madagascar and Mexico.
Her publications demonstrate interdisciplinary approaches to primate ecology, with emphases on dietary diversity, climate change effects, social structure, and conservation biology. Recent works analyze lemur foraging strategies, reproductive responses to cyclones, and population viability in fragmented habitats. Fieldwork spans long-term monitoring at Centre ValBio in Madagascar.
Dr. Erhart teaches courses including Biological Anthropology, Primate Behavior, Rainforest Ecology, and Research Methods. She mentors graduate students in primatology but no specific advisees are listed here. Her office is located in ELA 233.
